The ‘Elodea Lake Sampling Stations Toolbox’ for ArcGIS Pro 2.0 (or higher) was developed to facilitate a consistent generation of systematic sampling stations. Determining sampling sites before field work lowers sampling bias and increases efficiency. The toolbox generates a random starting point on the lake perimeter, then generates additional stations based on the desired distance between sampling sites. The final sequence of sites can be exported to a GPS unit for field navigation. New sampling stations should be created each time the lake is surveyed. Instructions for the toolbox are found in the Standard Operating Procedures 1 of Fulkerson 2023.
