North Slope Plant Invasion Vulnerability

This download includes a downscaled projection of length of growing season (number of days, 0-365) for the decades 2010-2019, 2020-2029, and 2060-2069 at 771x771 meter spatial resolution. The file represents a decadal mean of annual means calculated from mean monthly data, using the A2 emissions scenario. Growing season length is used as a proxy for cumulative summer growing conditions.

Using this growing season length dataset, general plant invasion vulnerability is defined and illustrated using length of growing season (in days). Areas with a growing season of less than 120 days are predicted to be invasion resistant (white); areas in blue represent regions vulnerable to invasion by extremely cold-tolerant plants; and warmer colors represent areas predicted to vulnerable to less cold tolerant species.
